I’m LaDawn. I Help Startups Build Sustainable Businesses.
CEO of VOS Group & VOS University & Strategist
The day my 20 year corporate career ended was one of the best gifts I’ve ever received”
My name is LaDawn Townsend, and I’m known as the ’fixer’ that leaders call to accelerate an organization to grow the bottom line.
I never thought I would work in Corporate America for over twenty years.
That wasn’t my plan but that is what my life turned out to be, until the day my good paying, benefit rewarding executive job broke up with me. In November 2014 I received the call that no one wants to get “LaDawn, our team has been let go including you.”
That is when the adventure really began.
I've been featured on...
I come from a family of entrepreneurs and since the age of 8 the discipline of ‘working’ was deeply instilled in me.
Summers and weekends were spent working together as a family so it was a shock to everyone (including me) when not only did I enter Corporate America right quickly after graduating from High School but I stayed in it for so long. I thought a career in Corporate America was the only path to stability and fulfilling my vision to impact the business marketplace. It is for some but not for everyone and here is why.
True financial security and freedom lies within your hands
We each have been given a unique skill or ability and the path to fulfill your purpose can look different for most
My first speaking engagement after being downsized. What I thought would be a room of 200 business owners turned out to be a handful of people however the lessons learned are priceless.
After being laid off I gave my business a go and it didn’t go very far in actuality I made under $800 within the first few years
How can you identify your purpose?
It’s the visions of a life desired that plays in your mind day and night. The life that you have plastered all over vision boards and every year you say this will be the year. I lived in the fantasy of waiting for my life to begin for over a decade before I took the leap or what I fondly call the push that I received that day in November 2014.
Sounds like it was all a success from the beginning right? An entrepreneur since birth gets laid off and makes her business a winning success? I come from a family of entrepreneurs and since the age of 8 the discipline of ‘working’ was deeply instilled in me.
Not in the least bit.
After being laid off I gave my business a go and it didn’t go very far in actuality I made under $800 within the first few years after investing tens of thousands of dollars into tools, programs, conferences and more to learn what I thought you needed to know in order to have a sustainable business.
What I did next took great courage, discipline and a decision to not allow ego to get in the way of my success.
I went back to Corporate America.
Heading back into Corporate America with a positive mindset and a single belief of “show up, serve others and do not allow a temporary situation turn into a permanent condition”
I would never again be a woman that didn’t have the financial options she desired for her life. Ever!
Success doesn't happen by accident. It happens when perseverance, preparation and opportunity meet.
